Floor Slab – Margaret, Felix D'Arcy & Fanny (Frances) Champney
Description
Extremely worn and pitted stone, now almost illegible, commemorating Margaret Champney (née Nelson; 1748-1815), wife of London surgeon Thomas Champney. Her son Richard Champney and son-in-law John Tigar were in partnership as paint, colour, whiting and cement manufacturers in Hull and Beverley. The stone also commemorates two of Richard's children who died in infancy: Felix D'Arcy and Fanny (Frances) Champney.

THOMAS CHAMPNEY SUR[GEON] of London
Daughter of the Rev.d THOMAS NELSON Rector of
FINGALL near BEDALE,
and Mother of Mr JOHN TIGAR of this Place,
Who departed this Life April 24th 1815 Aged 67.

Also of FELIX D'ARCY son of
RICHARD and MARY CHAMPNEY of ELLERKER,
and Grandson of the Above MAR[GARET] CHAMPNEY

Aged 10 months.
